Credit Report
Where can you obtain a copy of your credit file report information – let ACC Associates advise you on where to go for your up to date credit score and credit rating
You can ask for a copy of your credit reference file from any of the three credit reference agencies in the UK which, as discussed on our credit rating and credit scoring page, will provide you with your up to date credit history – this will put you in a more informed position in applying for a mortgage. Your file shows your personal details such as your name and address, as well as your current credit commitments and payment records as discussed here.
You may have to pay a small fee to obtain your credit reference file depending on the provider. The credit reference agencies may offer other more expensive services where you are sent a copy of your credit reference file on a regular basis. If you are thinking about signing up to this kind of service, make sure you read the details about what it will provide and check it’s what you want before agreeing to it.

Where to go for a copy of your credit file report
You can obtain a copy of your credit file report from each of the credit reference agencies –Experian, Equifax or CallCredit. Most of the information held by each agency will be the same but there will be some differences – some companies will only provide information to one agency. You can also obtain your credit reports in one place from checkmyfile. We have often found that once you have your credit file report, many clients find the information contained in the report bewildering. This is one of the reasons clients come to ACC Associates – to obtain clear and simple advice regarding their mortgage borrowing and financial needs. Feel free to phone us on (01249) 599019 where you can speak to a fully qualified advisor and receive advice on your mortgage and financial needs.
What information will I need to provide to obtain my credit file report?
As you may have heard in the media in recent times, many people have suffered at the hands of identity theft and fraud criminals in recent years. For this reason, it is important that the credit reference agency knows who they are dealing with so they will use the credit file report information to authenticate you. It is possible they will ask for proof of identification before they provide you with a copy of your credit file report e.g. a copy of a passport or full driving licence and original bills connecting you to your address in the last three months. It is important you provide full and accurate information – this will make it easier for the agency to authenticate you.
